Modern Heirloom is a contemporary classic residential interior design project in Abu Dhabi, created to bring traditional elegance into a modern home.

The interior combines architectural mouldings, decorative wall details and carefully selected furnishings with bold black accents, reflective finishes and sculptural lighting. A warm palette of ivory, taupe and brown is complemented by deep olive tones, giving the residence a calm, layered and sophisticated character.

Rather than feeling overly formal or decorative, the home feels personal, balanced and designed to remain relevant over time.

The Conceptual

The concept behind Modern Heirloom was to create an interior that respects classical design while feeling comfortable and contemporary.

Traditional architectural details provide structure and character throughout the residence, while modern furniture, lighting and darker accents introduce contrast. Soft neutral finishes keep the overall atmosphere light and refined, with olive green and warm brown adding depth and warmth.

Curated artwork and decorative pieces give the home an individual identity without overwhelming the space.

Design Process

Phase 1 – Interior Planning & Design Direction
The layout, furniture placement and overall visual direction were developed to create comfortable living areas while maintaining a strong sense of balance and symmetry.

Phase 2 – Materials, Colours & Finishes
Ivory, taupe and warm brown tones were selected as the foundation of the interior. Olive green fabrics, black detailing, marble finishes and reflective surfaces were introduced to create contrast and visual depth.

Phase 3 – Furniture, Lighting & Styling
Furniture, decorative lighting, artwork and accessories were carefully coordinated to complete the contemporary classic interior. Each element was selected to contribute to the overall composition rather than compete for attention.

Challenges Overcome

The main design challenge was balancing classical interior details with contemporary elements without making the residence feel too traditional or overly decorated.

This was achieved through controlled use of colour, carefully proportioned architectural details and a restrained selection of furniture and accessories. The result is a cohesive interior where both styles work naturally together.

Furniture Chosen

Furniture was selected to support the soft, elegant character of the residence while providing comfortable everyday living.

The scheme includes generously proportioned sofas, upholstered armchairs, ottomans, occasional tables and custom soft furnishings in complementary neutral and olive tones. Decorative trims, textured fabrics and carefully selected accent pieces add individuality while maintaining a consistent luxury residential interior design throughout the home.
